HUMAN TRAFFICKING AUDIO STORY

*Sunshine (named change for protection), a young lady who attended college and aspired to become a professional, became a prostitute.

The life and joy was sucked out of her life when her boyfriend and his cousin decided to sell her to a pimp.

She was forced to work hours on end in order to meet the quota that was given to her and if she didn’t, she wouldn’t eat or sleep until it was done.

Sunshine felt degraded, worthless, and unimportant.

She was no longer a human being with feelings and needs, but merely a sex object that was utilized day and night by those who wanted her services.

As she stated, her mother wanted to help her get out of prostitution, but during this time a rapper high up in the music industry “…sold her a dream and then walked her through a nightmare….”

After being detained for solicitation, Sunshine realized that she needed help and she reached out

to her mother. They found out about Magdalene Hope; this is an organization founded by Pastor Doug Bennett, that helps victims of human trafficking.

Since then, Sunshine has been recovering and is doing much better. As she says herself, she got her dignity back. She no longer has to be worried about meeting quotas or having to prostitute herself to satisfy the needs of clientele and pimps. She no longer lives with the fear that someone’s going to hurt her. She no longer worries if she will sleep at night or when she will eat again.

Sunshine is now free, ready to graduate from the Restoration Ranch Discipleship Program, and thanks God for giving her another opportunity where she can reinvent herself and be a productive contributor for a healthier society. She values herself as a woman and knows her real worth isn’t dependent on others.
